As part of my ongoing Manufracture Series, I investigate the relationship between artmaking and manufacturing. I documented the process of cutting, sewing, and wearing nine sweaters at the same time. After completion, the nine sweaters were united to form one large sweater to suggest that individuals lose themselves in order to fit into the larger society. Through this, I questioned the relationship between individuals and society and the overly elaborate formalities in Asian cultures. The red color references traditional Chinese wedding gowns and symbolizes the role women play in a conservative society.
