Title: Performing 18 Sweaters
Medium: performance | sculptures, live performance, poem
Duration: approx. 15 min
Venue: Nanhai Gallery and Taipei Artist Village, Taipei, Taiwan
I invited performers Chieh-Hsin Lee and Koyao Wang and poet Mimi Ye to re-interpret and revitalize my 2007 sculpture 18 Sweaters into a live performance. Two performers play duo or contrary personas of one person who constantly talk, fight, and twinkle inside a female body constrained by traditional social expectations. The red bodies stand up for their own characters and stimulate their inner desire to express, protest, and reclaim their voice.
